Florida International University’s School of Architecture lecture series is well under way with only 5 lectures left on the schedule.  Events are taking place between the main campus and their satellite location, the Miami Beach Urban Studios.

This week they have a special lecture on architecture and sound by Victoria Meyers of Hanrahan Meyers.  Meyers, author of Shape of Sound, is known for her collaborations in the arts.  Her lecture will focus on her building at Battery Park City, Digital Water i-Pavilion, where Meyers collaborated with composer and sound artist Michael J. Schumacher, who also founded Diapason Gallery in New York City.  Meyers and her partner, Thomas Hanrahan, commissioned Schumacher to write a musical score, titled ‘WaTER’, that they inscribed on the glass façade of the building they designed in New York City.  The façade is 550-feet long, and faces East, toward West Street, across from the Freedom Tower and the World Trade Center Memorial site.

This lecture will take place on Thursday, Oct.9th at the FIU Main Campus. 5:00pm.
